Moments from the wild Pacific Northwest

Step inside our living classroom where the ocean air, ancient cedars, and vibrant local traditions replace desks and textbooks. Browse the scenes from our intimate eight-student immersion journeys across Alert Bay and northern Vancouver Island.

Living culture and storytelling

Students learn English naturally through deep cultural encounters in Alert Bay. With field notebooks in hand, our small cohorts listen, ask questions, and practice real dialogue while learning directly from Indigenous community members and cultural leaders.

Windblown shores and wild seas

Feel the coastal chill and smell the salt spray as you explore dramatic shorelines, watch for orcas in the Johnstone Strait, and experience the raw beauty of coastal British Columbia from sunlit spring afternoons to windswept November storms.

Warm hearths and shared reflections

After a day of adventure, our close-knit cohort returns to The Orca Inn. Over hearty local meals and fireside discussions guided by instructor Madelaine Hill, students reflect on the day, build lasting friendships, and speak English with ease and confidence.
